We have a problem. My son is a little bandit. It started a few months ago when I went to pick him up from the sitter's house. I went into the room where he sleeps to get him and he had jewelry and money all over his bed. I of course went straight to his mouth to make sure there wasn't anything in it and then scramble to pick it all up. Then I thought, "where on earth, did he get this from?" Well, it seems my little monkey is quite the little bandit. At the sitter's house, Alex sleeps in a pack and play in the master bedroom. Alex has this habit of rocking back and forth when he's sitting up and the smart little one figured out if he sat in his bed and rocked, it would scoot across the hardwood floor. And scoot he did, right on over to the dresser where he stood up and swiped the dresser clean, right into his bed. He did this on more than 1 occasion which led to his pack and play being bungee corded to the bed frame. This poised another problem when the bungee cord started rubbing the finish off of the bed so now he connected to the closet door where he just stands up and pounds on the door, I am sure in his head he is creating beautiful music :) Thankfully, our sitter is fantastic and laid back so she has found this whole scenario quite hilarious. It is pretty funny, I'll admit but I also know how fortunate we are he didn't try to eat any of his "treasures."
I am not really sure where this "klepto" behavior is coming from, but it keeps happening against our wishes. I took him to the doctor last week for his ear infection and while looking for ways to entertain him while we waited for the doctor to come in, I found toys in the diaper bag that I had never seen before so clearly he found them somewhere. It's hard to say where they came from, my guess is they are from the sitter's house.
Now I know this is all just a coincidence but let's be honest, it's pretty funny. It's safe to say I live in a world where I never know what I am going to find when it comes to my little bandit of a son, maybe he'll get his little sticky fingers on a winning lottery ticket ;)
Life with him is never dull. He is rotten to the core, but good Lord do I love him!
