Teefers and Rolly Sitters!

On Monday morning, I dropped Alex off at the sitters and he sent me off with a big giant toothless grin. I love that little smile and I feel better about leaving him knowing that he's so happy. When I went to pick him up I was told to feel his gums. Alex has crazy control of that tongue of his and he will use to his advantage, if it's not food or going into his mouth at his own will, it's not getting in there. At his last appointment he bit the doctor when she tried to look inside of his mouth. So he of course fought my finger with all his little tongue might but I still won and couldn't believe what I was feeling. His once soft gums felt hard and a little jagged. Teeth had poked through my baby's gums, 2 of them to be exact. It won't be long now until the little guy has 2 full blown teeth. I can't believe it, my baby (who was born last week and I will always feel that way) has teeth. Seriously, why does he insist on growing up so fast!? SO now, the hunt for the prefect gum soother is on. So far I have found wet washcloths and watermelon to be the big winners. Wet washcloths are something my mom used to give my sister and I so of course I gave my baby the same, I always keep one in the diaper bag when we go out. Just wet it down and put in a baggie for later. He loves to suck on them and they seem to keep him pretty occupied AKA not aware of the soreness of his itty bitty gums. Watermelon, the boy LOVES watermelon! We got this really totally cool pacifier at my baby shower, it's a lot like a pacifier but instead of a nipple thingy it has a mesh bag of sorts. Anyway, why is this thing so awesome? Because I can put all kinds of food in it, give it to Bambino and not have to worry about him choking on it. Of course the food has to be on the juicy side, mainly fruit, incomes the watermelon! I put some watermelon in the paci feeder, give it to Alex and he displays insane suckage on this thing! He gets a special snack and some relief and I get peace of mind because it's a safe yet yummy delicious treat for Alex.
Totally Awesome Feeder Things

And moving on, Alex experienced 2 milestones in the same day. On the same day that his little teefers came through, he taught himself how to sit up all by himself. Now don't misunderstand that, he's been sitting up solo for a while now but this time he pulled himself upright from laying on his belly and say straight up. Kris was sitting in the chair holding him and laid him on the floor. I peered down and he was sitting there looking up at me with his not-so-toothless grin and baby blues. I just figured Kris put him down sitting up but when he swore that wasn't that case, WOO HOO!!! He did it, he finally did it! He's been working so hard for the last couple weeks. He gets up on his side and "planks", lays with his legs straight out and holds them there while rocking back and forth. But bye bye planking, hello my rolly sitter :)

Now if we could just get this crawling with his belly off the floor thing figured out we'd be in GREAT shape! Poor little guys still army crawls.

MYM - Kindle Sleeves

Photobucket

A couple weeks ago, I launched my own store on Etsy. It hasn't quite taken off like I had hoped it would but it's still early. The really cool thing about my Etsy store is that while the items posted are up for sale, they can also be completely customized with patterns, fabrics, and whatever else you might have in mind. I am having so much fun making all these items and Alex is enjoying being my little guinea pig, he gets the first "model" of almost everything I make :)

Check out Happy Heart on Etsy and take a look. Let me know if you have something you think you might want that's not listed. Thanks in advance, I know you're just going to love it!

Ok, on to Make Yourself Monday :) This weekend, well on Friday actually, I designed and made a couple new sleeves for Kindle. One was a made-to-order placed on my Etsy site for my very good friend, Nikki and the other was for Etsy. They are a great way to store your treasured eReader. These are designed to specifically  fit the Kindle 3rd Generation but I can make them for any eReader as long as the measurements are available. Let me know what you think, I can't wait for a little feedback.

OH- These can be made to fit Phones and Tablets too :)

Five Question Friday ~ October 21, 2011: Homecoming and Seely Booth

The weekend is so close I can taste it! I've had a love affair with Friday since I started my M-F 8-4 job after my stint as a wedding planner. I love Friday, it means that after the work day, I get to have the next 2 days off to spend with my family, it means that my life is my own for 2 whole days. :) This Friday is especially exciting because this weekend is Homecoming at Wittenberg University, which is where my husband went to college, and most, almost all of our friendships have come from there. This a great time of year when everybody comes back and we all get to see eachother again. This year is going to be great because this year, we get to show off our son :) Most have already met him, but it's been nearly 3 months since they have seen him and he's grown quite a bit since then, AHHH, I'm so excited! :)

Ok so on to what this post is really about, Five Question Friday, Thank you My Little Life for posting these great questions once again :)

1. Where do you escape to when you've had enough?

I don't know the answer to this one. I just want to do something by myself. Find a comfy nook to bury myself in a book, go to the french store of Tar-get and walk around all the end caps where you find all those totally awesome clearance deals,  engulf myself in a sewing project and not stop until that project is complete. Sometimes though, when I've had enough, all I want to do is lock myself in my bedroom and cry, it's amazing how therapeutic that can be.

2. What shows are you watching this fall?

Revenge and Pan Am, as far as the new ones go, I am a big fan of these. Oh and New Girl, CRACKS me up everytime! I still watch Glee and Grey's although this one is starting to lose my interest, oh well. It's sad when your once absolute favorite show starts to spiral itself down the cancellation drain :( Oh and Bones, I can't wait for this season to start. I'm so excited for the year of the baby, and let's be honest, I love me some Seely Booth !!!

3. What was the longest roadtrip you've ever taken and where did you go?

Mexico. In 2006, before Kris and I were even engaged, we decided to go visit some friends down in Texas. Very very south Texas. Now, seeing how my husband is about as tight with money as he comes (he hand scrubbed a shower curtain liner, LINER in the yard because he didn't want to have to buy a new one, I'm pretty sure these are a buck at Dollar General) we didn't fly, we drove. It's important to note that gas was nowhere near $3 a gallon. Anyway, we drove from Central O-H-I-O, all the way to South Texas and eventually to Mexico, granted it was just over the border, but it was still Mexico in my book.

4. Do you plan on taking your kids to Disney World?

I would love to be able to take my kids to Disney, I went as a kid and remember it was fabulous. But of course, my fear is the cost of a trip like that. Anybody want to sponsor us in about 5-6 years?

5. What is something people would surprised to know about you?

My bubby, Harley. RIP
Ok, this is  a tough one because I tend to be a fairly open person. BUT, something that may surprise some is I think I am of myself as a hypocrite. I don't want to be, just am. I'm referring to my love for animals and the fact that I am not a vegetarian. I am super sensitive when it comes to animals. I once stepped on my dogs foot in the kitchen and then immediately made him a salami sandwich because I felt bad. And then with what happened in Zanesville, Ohio this week and the sadness and heartbreak I have felt, I still went out last night and had chicken wings at Roosters. How can I be so sensitive but still indulge in meat?????? I can't handle knowing that animals are in any pain. Last Christmas we lost our family dog, Harley when he was hit by a car and my heart was terribly broken, still is. I missed and entire week of work because I couldn't handle it. I  just don't get it, I seriously struggle with this, it sucks! I am a hypocrite. I am an animal lover and want no harm to come to them, but this weekend, I will probably eat a burger. Seriously! How am I not vegetarian!?!?!?!
